Provided by AGPThe visit, conducted at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, marked the first major Belgian diplomatic and business mission to Türkiye in 14 years.
Queen Mathilde was accompanied by a large delegation of 428 business leaders and senior officials, including Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prévot and Defense Minister Theo Francken. Regional leaders from Brussels, Flanders, and Wallonia also joined the mission.
The program concluded with around 40 new agreements signed between Turkish and Belgian entities, strengthening cooperation across multiple industries.
Both Erdoğan and Queen Mathilde highlighted the strategic importance of Türkiye–EU relations amid ongoing regional instability. The Turkish president also reiterated that updating the Customs Union remains a key priority on the path toward closer EU integration.
During the visit, Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat held talks with the Belgian delegation on expanding bilateral economic cooperation. Bolat and Prévot also signed a joint statement aimed at enhancing trade relations between the two countries.
